This past Sunday we took a drive to look for some fall colors to hopefully photograph. We didn’t really find anything leafy, I guess we missed the colors or the wind the last few weeks have blown all the leaves away already. Whatever the case, we explored some backroads we had never been on before so that was nice.
We started out going up Emigration Canyon, without any luck we headed on until we got to Little Dell Reservoir at the split in the road. Instead of going towards the freeway, we took a left and headed North on Route 65 toward East Canyon Reservoir. We had never gone this way, so it was all new to us.
At Big Mountain Pass we stopped for a nice view of the canyon and valley below. Pretty windy up there and that breeze made the air temps feel pretty chilly. So after a few photos we jumped in the car and kept heading North.
About half way past the East Canyon Reservoir I saw some cool bushes and a pretty cloud above the lake, so we stopped for some photos. No wind down here near the lake. The only thing moving was a jet skier out on the lake alone.
At the town of Hefner we saw the freeway head Northwest towards Ogden and what looked like a pretty cool canyon, we will have to check that out another day. Instead we headed over the freeway and south towards Echo. That’s where we happened upon the Witch Rocks along the road. The rock formation looked pretty neat, and the sun was getting low, so we stopped for some photos.
Afterward we headed back home as the sun set. It was pretty nice to take a short drive and see some new terrain, always fun.
